"Reggae Roots and Culture "
Saturdays 10am- 1pm

Walter Berry, affectionately known as Papa Wabe pronounced (wah-bay) got his start in radio at WPFW in Washington D.C. in 1978. In 1981, after the passing of Reggae icon Bob Marley, Papa Wabe began his award winning "Shockwaves" showgram which featured positive, uplifting Reggae music from local and international artists. After 23 years at WPFW, Papa Wabe took his talents to XM Satellite Radio and was a pioneer along with three other personalities of XM's premiere Reggae channel "The Joint."

After leaving XM, Papa Wabe worked at World Space Satellite Radio, and a small community radio station in Richmond Virginia before coming to WEAA-FM as Reggae Music Director and program host in 2004. Papa Wabe can be heard every Saturday morning from 10:00am to 1:00 pm presenting "Reggae Roots and Culture" on WEAA 88.9 FM.
