Arturo Sandoval, Cuban born trumpeter plays a heart- felt tribute to the legendary Dizzy Gillespie, considered by many to be the Godfather of the Afro Cuban/Latin Jazz tradition. The CD is compiled of eleven original takes on Gillespie compositions as well as a Chano Pozo tune, which Dizzy considered the greatest percussionist of the 20th century. The final song- “Every Day I Think Of You”- written by Sandoval where he plays his highest of high notes, “reaching the sky to touch Diz”, completes in his words, “a lullaby, a prayer, a thank you note to a man who lived a life filled with beautiful music and boundless love.”
