City Police arrest 19-year old man accused of beating man to death with a brick

Early Wednesday morning, around 5:22 a.m., officers were called to the 3700 block of Oakmont Avenue for a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they found 67-year old Randolph Cockrell with trauma to his body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

In a released statement, Detective Jeremy Silbert said Investigators believe Dion Dixon encountered the victim sleeping on a porch, in the 3700 block of Oakmont Avenue. Dixon confronted the victim and then assaulted him with a brick. After the assault, Dixon left the location.

Silbert said Dixon was arrested Tuesday, August 7, 2018. He was transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility. Dixon is charged with murder, assault, and weapons related charges.
