Flood Warning in effect for much of the Baltimore Region

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a Flood Warning for Baltimore City in northern Maryland. Harford County in northern Maryland. Eastern Baltimore County in northern Maryland. Until 515 PM EDT.  Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. Multiple roads are closed throughout the warned area. The bridge across Peggy`s Run on Mt. Carmel Road has collapsed and the road is closed. National Weather Service Meteorologist Isha Renta talks with WEAA's Julius White about the severe weather threat to out area.

At 1116 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain is occurring with the ongoing rain and some locally heavier amounts are possible shortly in Harford County.

Given saturated soils, flooding is likely. Some locations that may experience flooding include: Baltimore, Middle River, Aberdeen, Havre De Grace, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Millers Island, North Point State Park, Sparrows Point, Back River, Dundalk, Towson, Bel Air South, Essex, Parkville, Bel Air North, Carney, Perry Hall, Arbutus, Rosedale and Rossville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS---"turn around, don't drown" when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Flooding is ongoing on Gunpowder Falls, with moderate flooding occurring near Glencoe. These flood conditions will persist at least through the afternoon.
