Born and reared in Vallejo, California, Bob learned about jazz from his mother's Count Basie and Duke Ellington records. He grew up listening to former KJAZ owner Pat Henry, broadcasting at that time on KROW, and to Jerry Dean, who used to do a weekly KJAZ show from Vallejo. In high school Bob played tenor and soprano saxophones and flute and sang in road bands.

Arthur Mahlangu (DJ Lovey) Africa and worldbeat host/director has been affiliated with WEAA since 1989.He started the show while still student at Morgan State University.DJ Lovey was born in Soweto, Johannesburg South Africa under the apartheid. As a freedom fighter,he fought for the struggle to dismantle apartheid,was jailed under the state of emergency and sentence to 11 months in jail,4 in solitary confidement.He was kicked out of high school by white regime as a president of Azanian Student Movement (AZASM). DJ Lovey came to the state to join his exiled mother and further his studies. As a political activist,he organised rallies here at Morgan with international students to protest against apartheid and the release of Mandela.DJ Lovey started Africa and Worldbeat show as a voice for South Africa and music,later included all the african music and politics.He has interviewed countless musician and have received several awards from the States and Abroad. He lost his wife,Francina from breast cancer in 2007 and became a single parent of 3, Jr,Princess and Kola. His show is always provocative with good music and daily events talk.
Born and raised in Baltimore, Doc Manning received an educational background in Jazz & Big Band from his mother. Doc’s knowledge of Blues initially came from his father who sang Blues while shaving. Doc spent time with his father listening to the live music at Carr’s Beach, the segregated area of the Annapolis beach communities. His memories of those late 50’s and 60’s summer concerts featuring R&B greats Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Dinah Washington were a huge influence to the youngster who would eventually go on to study Political Science at Coppin State University.
Donna Powell has been affiliated with WEAA since her days as an undergraduate student at Morgan State University from 1995-1998. She began her radio journey voicing underwriting, before serving as a co-news anchor on the Caribbean Affair, then as a co-host on Reggae, Roots, and Culture.

John Tegler, the producer and host of Jazz Straight Ahead on WEAA. 88.9 FM in Baltimore has been a broadcaster since the age of 16 when he began on WPEN in Philadelphia, John now produces, hosts and syndicates Jazz Straight Ahead heard in Baltimore on Wednesday nights from 8 pm until midnight. The show is about to celebrate its 27th anniversary on the air.
