ANNAPOLIS, MD (WEAA) — Maryland is offering individuals who get vaccinated a chance to win "VaxCash" as an incentive to urge more people to take the shot.

Governor Larry Hogan announced Thursday, the state will work with Maryland Lottery and the Maryland Department of Health to provide $2 million in prize money to residents who have received a COVID-19 vaccine.“If you needed one more good reason, then go out and get vaccinated for your chance to win a share of this $2 million. So remember Maryland—get your shot for a shot to win", Gov. Hogan said.

Officials will give away $40,000 a day May 25 through July 3.

On July 4, the final drawing will be for $400,000.

Marylanders 18 and over who have already been vaccinated in Maryland will automatically be entered to win.
