Former Morgan State forward Troy Baxter Jr. has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Chicago Bulls, according to his agency.

After not being selected in the 2021 NBA draft, Baxter Jr. made the deal official on Friday.

The 25-year-old 6-foot-9 forward is the first Morgan player to sign a deal with an NBA team since Tiwian Kendley and Phillip Carr in 2018.

Kendley signed with the Washington Wizards and Carr signed with the New York Knicks, but neither made the teams’ final rosters.

The only Morgan player to ever make an NBA team’s final roster is Marvin Webster who played in the NBA from 1975 to 1987. Webster played for the Denver Nuggets, Seattle Supersonics, New York Knickbockers, and Milwaukee Bucks.

Baxter Jr., who is known for his elite athleticism and shot-blocking ability, averaged 12.9 points and 1.8 blocks in his two seasons at Morgan.

In his senior campaign, Baxter was named to the All-MEAC First Team and All-Defensive Team. Baxter Jr. also won the State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship in April.

His journey with the Bulls is set to begin on Aug. 9 in Las Vegas as the team faces the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2021 NBA Summer League.
