Maryland To Potentially Replicate California's Ban On New Gas Cars By 2035

(Baltimore, MD) -- Maryland legislators and environmental groups are urging Republican Governor Larry Hogan's administration to adopt California's new electric car standards by the end of the year or risk falling behind the Golden State.

California's regulation is requiring all new cars, trucks, and SUV's sold in the state to be electric by model year 2035.

According to Maryland's Department of Legislative Services, the state must eventually do the same because of a law passed in 2007 that pledges to adopt and maintain California's car emissions standards.

A statement from Maryland's Department of Environment says officials will start considering action when California issues a final approval for the states policy.

California is set to releases its decision by the end of the day.
