(Silver Spring, MD) -- The race to succeed Maryland Senator Ben Cardin is officially underway.
Montgomery County Councilman Will Jawando announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination just one day after Cardin said he would not seek a fourth term.
Jawando is a Silver Spring native, civil rights attorney and former member of the Obama administration.
Other possible Democratic candidates for Cardin's seat include Maryland representatives Jamie Raskin and David Trone, along with Prince George's County Executive Angela Alsobrooks.
