(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore City's school board has approved a budget totaling $1.7 billion, which includes funding for more than 600 jobs for the district.

The budget also features investments in academic supports for public school students.
These include tutoring, summer extended learning, athletics and fine arts.
Revenues tied to the state's education reform program represent a 6.3% increase over the current budget.
The budget now goes to the city council for final approval.
