(Baltimore, MD) -- A new mid-year crime report shows double-digit reductions in gun violence in Baltimore.
The report released today shows homicides are down by 36-percent for the first six months of the year, with a 30-percent drop in non-fatal shootings.
The report finds the clearance rate for homicides has improved to 70-percent, an increase of 24-percent from this time last year.
So far this year, police have arrested 53 homicide suspects, with warrants open for seven additional suspects.
Also, overall arrests are up 13-percent, including a 72-percent increase in misdemeanor drug arrests.
As of today, BPD says year-to-date-homicides are down nearly 34-percent and non-fatal shootings are down more than 36-percent.
