(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore City Public Schools will be spending 50-million-dollars on new locks that will allow teachers to lock their classrooms from the inside.
Schools CEO Sonja Santelises says most doors in city schools lock from the outside, and the new locks will help to keep intruders out of the classrooms.
Installation of the intruder locks will include the replacement of doors and door frames and it's a big project with 7,600 classroom and office space doors to be replaced.
Santelises says high schools will be the first priority since they experience the highest number of security incidents.
