COVID-19 in Maryland: 611 new cases, hospitalizations and positivity rate decline



BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) Maryland is seeing a decrease in daily coronavirus cases, hospitalizations, and positivity rates.


The Maryland Department of Health reports 611 new coronavirus cases within 24 hours.

COVID-related hospitalizations have remained below 1,000 for the past two days.


The statewide positivity rate has dropped to 3.91 %.



Governor Larry Hogan celebrated the news on Twitter Monday.


Over 1 million doses of the vaccine have been administered by Maryland providers, averaging over 27,000 shots per day.


Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Governor Hogan’s goal was to put Maryland on a path to recovery by setting social distancing guidelines and encouraging residents to take health precautions.


According to officials, with the coronavirus spread decreasing slowly, but surely, Maryland is heading towards a safer path.
