(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore's Office of the Inspector General is calling on the city to take immediate action after reports of unsafe working conditions for Public Works employees.
The OIG report cited a June 5 complaint by employees claiming the department did not provide adequate water, ice or fans, specifically for those working outside in the heat.
The report also cited no working water fountains at the Cherry Hill site and no working ice machine, leaving workers to buy their own ice.
The OIG said the city could be in violation of Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and immediate action must be taken to prevent further safety risks.
