Alleged Howard County drug deal ends with shooting, police hunt for gunman

Howard County police are investigating after a suspected drug deal led to a double shooting in Columbia on Monday night.

At approximately 9:37 p.m., police responded to the 9500 block of Sea Shadow for a report of shots fired. They discovered two male victims in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. 19 year old D’Marni Ware, 19, is listed in critical condition, and Jaiden Marquise Pender, 18, is listed in serious condition.

Through preliminary investigation, police believe that the two victims met with a male suspect to complete a drug deal. An altercation ensued and the suspect shot both victims before fleeing. The suspect is described as a black male, 18-20 years old. No further description is available.
