Ballots for June 2 primary arrive for Baltimore City one week late

The Maryland State Board of Elections reports the ballots were delivered to the U.S. Postal Service last week and should begin arriving in mailboxes today through Saturday.

Election officials warn that the mail-in ballots will display the original primary date of April 28th, but the ballots are valid for the June 2nd election. Officials postponed the primary due to the coronavirus pandemic. There is no postage required to return the ballot, but it must be postmarked no later than June 2nd.. Major races on this ballot include nominees for Novembers general election including the full two-year term for the 7th Congressional District, Baltimore Mayor, City Council President and Comptroller.

The Baltimore Sun reports the Maryland Board of Elections said the ballots are now expected to reach city voters no later than May 23.
