Baltimore County School Board to interview six finalist for Superintendent's job

Baltimore County Public Schools
Interim Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Verletta White

Six candidates have been selected to interview for the position of superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools to possibly replace Interim Superintendent Verletta White.

The board confirms that the search process is on track for completion prior to July 1 – the date by which the board is legally required to hire the next superintendent.

Ray and Associates, Inc., a national search firm, contacted over one thousand individuals in forty-eight states regarding the vacancy, including forty-seven individuals in Maryland.  Of these 1,034 contacts, forty-one candidates completed the application process.

Candidates completing the application process were evaluated and screened based on administrative experience and a good academic background.  The candidates were then evaluated based on the qualities and criteria determined by the board.  Each application file was also reviewed for other special experience.

After the screening of top candidates based upon experience, education, and Board criteria, they were given a comprehensive interview by a Ray and Associates consultant.  Next, a thorough investigation was conducted for each candidate through contacting references, state officials, other school administrators, and individuals who know the candidate and his or her abilities and strengths.  Following these investigations, Ray and Associates finalized the determination of the best candidates for the superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools.

Nine top candidates from the states of California, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, and Tennessee were presented to the board for consideration.  Of these nine candidates, the board selected six to interview for the position of superintendent.
