Baltimore Teachers Union elect a new president, results to be challenged

Baltimore Teachers Union President-Elect Diamnte' Brown

The Baltimore Teachers Union has a new president.  Booker T. Washington Middle School teacher Diamonte' Brown has defeated incumbent Marietta English.

The vote count was 901 to 893.  Brown promises more support for educators, a union that's accountable to members and a focus on racial equity.  English, who was seeking a 9th term, plans to challenge the results.  She says there were violations of the election process throughout the campaign and she cannot concede the election.
