BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — To make the 100th anniversary of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, President Joe Biden became the first president to visit the site Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The president traveled to Tulsa on Tuesday to acknowledge one of the deadliest incidents of racial violence in U.S. history.
As many as 300 Black residents were killed by a white mob who also terrorized and destroyed the city's 35-block Greenwood neighborhood — a business district known as "Black Wall Street.”

Biden visited the revived neighborhood and met with three survivors of the massacre.
During his trip, he also announced new measures his administration is taking to narrow the racial wealth gap in America, including ordering the federal government to direct more contracts to small, disadvantaged businesses.
