COVID-19 latest: Maryland adds 1,840 cases, 14 deaths

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Maryland health officials are reporting 1,840 new coronavirus cases within 24 hours, the most daily cases in months. 

 

Data shows 14 deaths have been added bringing the state’s COVID-related death toll to 8,238. 

 

Currently, 1,249 people are hospitalized due to the virus. An increase of 33 patients since Thursday morning. 

 

The state’s positivity rate is 5.59%. 

 

Maryland is currently in Phase 2B of its vaccination distribution plan. 

 

Governor Larry Hogan announced Friday morning, the state is reporting a record-high 82,068 new vaccinations with 3,274,873 total vaccinations to date. 

 

 

State officials say, Maryland ranks 13th in the nation for vaccinating its population.
