COVID-19 in Maryland: 1,002 new cases, 20 more deaths

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Maryland health officials report 1,002 new coronavirus cases since Tuesday morning. 

Data shows, 20 more virus-related deaths have been recorded. 

More than 8,500 people have died from COVID-19 in Maryland. 

According to the Maryland Department of Health, 1,093 patients are currently hospitalized due to complications from the virus. 

The state’s positivity rate is 3.89%. 

As part of his No Arm Left Behind campaign, on Tuesday, Governor Larry Hogan announced three drive-thru vaccination sites that dont require appointments.

“Expanding no-appointment vaccinations is another way we are working to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated,” said Governor Hogan. “Our goal throughout this massive effort remains the same—to provide a vaccine to every single Marylander who wants one.”

He also announced Maryland is now offering no appointment vaccinations at nine mass vaccination sites throughout the state. 

Governor Hogan is expected to provide an update on the state’s vaccination efforts at 4 pm.
