BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Super Bowl superstar Jacoby Jones is joining Morgan State University’s football team as an assistant coach.

The former Baltimore Raven will coach tight ends.

"It's my honor to welcome our new tight ends coach Jacoby Jones and his family back to Baltimore," said Bears head coach Tyrone Wheatley.

"He is a person of high integrity, a great family man, a relentless recruiter and a proven winner who checked all the boxes during this critical time for the Morgan State Football program."

Prior to joining Morgan State, Jones coached football at Calvert Hall College High School in 2020.

"His ability to connect with young men and develop them to excel both on and off the field has been proven throughout his young career," Wheatley added. "He is a rising star in this profession who is more than prepared to lead our tight ends and our program to greater heights."

Over his nine-year career in the NFL, Jones had 203 receptions for 2,733 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also had five kickoff returns for touchdowns and four punt returns for touchdowns.

In 2013, during Super Bowl XLVII, the football champion made a big impression with an extraordinary play. Jones returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers 34-31. He also caught a 56-yard touchdown pass.

He officially retired from professional football in 2017.
