BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — June is recognized as Men’s Health Month.

During the month of June, health officials and organizations work to increase awareness of health issues in men so that they, and family members, can identify any problems that may arise.

One of the most common health issues that men face is erectile dysfunction, also known as ED.

Health experts define ED as trouble getting or keeping an erection that is firm enough for sex.

ED can happen when blood flow to the penis is limited, nerves are damaged and can even be a result of stress.

According to health officials, it can also be an early warning sign for more serious health issues such as blocked arteries, heart disease or high blood pressure.

ED affects more than 40 million men in the United States.
