About forty members of the 300 Men March left Sunday to walk all night from Baltimore to Washington DC, WBAL reported this morning. The members are walking on foot to the capital to bring attention to the surge of violence in Baltimore, and their organization’s work.

300 Men March organizers hope to meet with President Obama about the My Brother’s Keeper Organization. “We understand the importance of My Brother’s Keeper Initiative and its role in positively impacting communities challenged with high levels of gun violence,” they write at 300menmarch.com. “We are asking that the President give us an opportunity to present the tactics of the 300 Men March Movement and how it serves as a model for the My Brother’s Keeper philosophy and for addressing violence cross America.”

This Week, Police Halt Sunday Dirt Bike Event

Last night, Baltimore Police broke up the weekly dirt bikers and spectators on Reisterstown Road by setting up a road block for about one mile, forcing vehicles to slow down and merge into one lane. This was a new effort to control the situation, after the outcry last week when police on the scene wore riot gear and one officer even drew his gun. Few dirt bike riders and spectators showed up while police officers were there, but residents think it's only temporary. City leaders are considering ways to solve the problem and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake says she is open to meeting with some of the bikers to help find a solution.

Sunday Morning Shootings

After two separate shooting incidents in Baltimore, one person is dead and another injured. Police found one man critically injured around 2:30 yesterday morning in the 200 block of North Caroline Street.  He died soon after.  Another man was found shot around 1 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Rogers Avenue, but officials say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Woman Dies In House Fire

A woman is dead after a one-alarm house fire on Daywalt Avenue near Frankford Avenue yesterday.   Fire crews were called to the scene shortly before 9:40 p.m.  The victim was found burned in the basement. Officials say a small explosion within the home may have caused the roof to collapse, trapping the woman inside, but cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Search Continues For Missing Boater

A search effort is underway for a man who fell overboard in Cecil County.  Maryland Natural Resources Police say the boater went missing at around nine last night.  Rescue teams are searching the North East River near the Jackson Marina.  Officials are not sure if the man was wearing a life jacket.
