WEAA offers an exquisite mixture of music programming, with a focus on artists, not labels. Our music is rooted in mainstream and contemporary jazz and is complimented by gospel, blues, reggae, world music, and hip-hop and even house music.

Reggae Roots and Culture: Dr. Claire Nelson of the Institute of Caribbean Studies

June is Caribbean American Heritage and Black Music Month. On "Reggae Roots and Culture." This Saturday, hosts Papa WaBe and Ichelle Cole will speak with Dr. Claire A Nelson, President and Founder of The Institute for Caribbean Studies. 

Dr. Nelson is the first Jamaican woman to earn a Doctorate degree in an engineering discipline, and the only black in her graduating class. Dr. Nelson holds Industrial Engineering Degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Purdue University, and a Doctorate in Engineering Management from George Washington University. She has served on numerous boards and committees and will share information about events taking place in June celebrating Caribbean American Heritage Month.
