Carole Johnson, Administrator of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, joins Dr. Kaye to discuss her role and critical health issues.
Johnson, who joined HRSA from the White House COVID-19 Response Team, covers a range of topics, including efforts to enhance vaccination rates, tackle the maternal mortality crisis—particularly among Black women—and address the implications of the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion.
She also provides an update on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) pandemic surveillance systems, the 1-833-TLC-MAMA hotline, and a new maternal health research network in collaboration with minority-serving institutions including Morgan State University.
