(WEAA)– November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month.

Lauren Shillinger’s daughter was born with a rare genetic condition called tuberous sclerosis complex which leads to frequent seizures.

Concerned about her daughter Brynleigh’s safety in school, Shillinger created Brynleigh's Act, which ensures school personnel are trained to recognize and properly respond to students who experience seizures.

On April 12, 2022, the legislation was signed into law by Governor Larry Hogan.
