WEAA celebrates Black musicians and culture every day but on June 7, 1979, President Jimmy Carter announced June as African American Appreciation Month, also known as Black Music Month.
During this time, the nation acknowledges and honors the musical contributions of African Americans that have shaped society and inspired many.
