Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh says Baltimore City is a ‘welcoming city,’ though not a sanctuary city. This week, Trump signed an executive order that will strip money from states and cities that shelter illegal immigrants. Pugh says that Baltimore will continue its policy of not checking a person's immigration status. Baltimore can’t technically be a sanctuary city because it does not run its own detention centers. And, Baltimore City Council is asking for Governor Hogan and the head of the Maryland State Police to have troppers take over city police patrols along the JFX. Council members say the move would allow officers to focus on neighborhoods, rather than the highway.
