Lawsuit against Baltimore County Police now seeks $42 million in civil damages

Over past couple of  weeks, the dollar amount that was reportedly sought by attorneys representing the family of Korryn Gaines, was $4 million. Well, that number has changed---exponentially.

Gaines was fatally shot a Baltimore County Police Officer, Royce Ruby, after a six hour standoff at Gaines’ apartment.  During closing arguments Thursday, defense attorneys J.Wyndal Gordon and Kenneth Ravenell to the civil jury they were seeking a total of 42 million. Attorney Kenneth Ravenell told the jury of six women that Kodi Gaines, who was 5 when he was injured in the shooting by Officer Ruby, who’s now a Corporal, deserves more than $32 million for his trauma.

A combined $10 million in damages is sought for the rest of the family including Gaines' daughter, mother and father. Attorneys for the county and Ruby, will be presented Friday. They have argued Gaines presented an imminent threat to officers on scene.
