BPD: Fatal shooting of a former basketball standout was a target attack

Baltimore police believe the murder of former Loyola University basketball star Gerald Brown was a targeted attack. Brown was shot multiple times last Friday in the 37-hundred-block of West Forest Park. 

Brown, was just 34-years-old and a father of three children.  He is the second local star athlete this year who has become victim to gun violence in Baltimore.  His family met with police Tuesday and say they are still finalizing funeral arrangements. 

Brown, from Windsor Mill was a stand-up comedian and celebrated former Loyola University basketball star. He’s the second local star athlete this year who has become victim to gun violence in Baltimore.  Loyola University's men's basketball team expressed their sorrow and tweeted Saturday, saying he was, "a prominent member of our men's basketball team and was one of the top players in school history."  Mayor Jack Young called the shooting a heinous crime.  So far, no arrests have been made.
