Members of the Baltimore City Council, environmental and community groups have kicked off a drive to eliminate waste in the city.

The first step in the coalition's plan is to close the Wheelabrator Baltimore incinerator when the city's contract with Wheelabrator ends next year.  According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the incinerator is the biggest source of air pollution in the city.  At a kickoff event this weekend, a half-dozen members of the city council announced their support of the plan.
