BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Maryland is once again seeing a surge in coronavirus cases.
As of Thursday morning, state health officials report an increase of 1,444 positive cases within 24 hours.
Data shows, 19 more virus-related deaths have also been reported.
More than 8,300 people have died from COVID-19 in Maryland.
Currently, 1,244 patients are hospitalized due to complications from the virus, an increase of 8 people since Wednesday morning.
The state’s positivity rate is 5.78 %.

Baltimore City is also seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases.
City health officials have reported a total of 48,311 coronavirus cases and 964 deaths.
Officials in Baltimore County have reported a total of 60,053 cases and 1,382 virus-related deaths.
