COVID-19 latest: Maryland adds 942 cases, 25 deaths

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Maryland Health officials report an increase of 942 coronavirus cases within 24 hours. 

 

Data shows, 25 more virus-related deaths have been reported since Thursday morning.

 

According to Maryland’s COVID-19 dashboard, 8,555 people have died from the virus in Maryland. 

 

More than 1,042 patients are hospitalized in the state due to complications from the coronavirus. 

 

The state’s positivity rate is 3.72%. 

 

 

 

Recently, Governor Larry Hogan announced masks and face coverings are no longer required outdoors. 

 

The governor says his announcement is in line with the new CDC guidance.

He also announced, beginning Saturday, May 1, standing service may resume outdoors at bars and restaurants and restrictions related to outdoor dining capacity and distancing will be lifted.
