Celebrating 54 years: Couple talks legalization of interracial marriage

BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Interracial marriage became legal in the United States 54 years ago. 

On June 12, 1967, the Supreme Court justices ruled unanimously in the case of Loving v. Virginia ending race-based restrictions on marriage throughout the nation.

Guest host Anthony McCarthy speaks to Ondria Vines Leary and George Leary, an interracial couple who have been married for 54 years.

The couple shares how they met, eye-opening experiences and how they overcame obstacles as an interracial couple.
