BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA)— On Monday, Dr. Kaye discussed a number of critical issues that surfaced over the weekend. 

  • According to CBS News, the Delta variant now accounts for more than half of the new coronavirus cases in the United States. Almost all of the new cases — 99.7% —are among people who have not been vaccinated.
  • The United Nations human rights chief, Michelle Bachelet, urged countries to “fully fund comprehensive processes” and take “a wide range of reparations measures” to confront slavery, colonial rule and racial discrimination.
  • Baltimore City Counicil-member Zeke Cohen of the 1st District tweeted “This morning billionaires were squabbling over who would be first to launch themselves into space.Meanwhile on earth our planet is burning in a climate crisis and thousands of kids in Baltimore don’t have air-conditioning in their schools”.
  • Baltimore City Council-member Odette Ramos of the 14th District joins Dr. Kaye for WEAA’s segment, “Meet Your Council Person”. She addresses eviction moratoriums, COVID-19 and the state of schools in the 14th District. 
  • A middle school teacher in Sacramento, California is under fire for allegedly using racial slurs in the classroom.
