(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore City Councilman Zeke Cohen is trying to block toxic wastewater from the Ohio train derailment from being shipped to Maryland for treatment.
Cohen plans to introduce a resolution at tonight's City Council meeting calling on the EPA to reverse its decision to send contaminated water from East Palestine to the city-owned Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant in Dundalk.
A private company said on Thursday it received a contract to accept and treat 675,000 gallons of wastewater from the derailment.
In a statement, Cohen said Baltimore should not be a dumping ground for toxic sludge.
