THE VOICE OF THE COMMUNITY
March Madness is in full effect, and we’re not just talking basketball. WEAA is getting in on the game with WEAA Jazz Madness. Cast your votes from 64 of your favorite jazz artists in the categories of traditional and contemporary vocalists, and traditional and contemporary instrumentalists. You’ll select one in each matchup from week to week—from the First Round, through the Sweet 16 and the Final Four, to the Final Championship. We’ll also follow the brackets and play music from the artists in on-air matchups. So vote for your favorite artists and see who advances to the final round!

WEAA Jazz Madness: Winner

From 64 artists—traditional and contemporary, vocalists and instrumentalists—you voted for three weeks over six rounds to crown one champion (and we have to say, you picked a good one!). The last man standing: Donny Hathaway. The multi-hyphenate, Grammy-Award-winning singer-songwriter-instrumentalist beat out a crowd of worthy contenders to become WEAA’s first Jazz Madness winner. Stay tuned to WEAA for music in tribute to the winner!

In the meantime, here's one of our favorites from the artist, "Someday We'll All Be Free," from his 1973 release, Extensions of a Man.
