(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott has released his proposed budget for fiscal 2025.
He says the plan continues progress on key priorities like education, violence prevention and eliminating vacant properties while funding targeted investments to make the city safer, cleaner, and more equitable.
The $4.1 billion budget includes $3.4 billion for operating expenses and around $654 million for capital investment.
The mayor says the plan closes a budget gap - in part - by eliminating vacant positions within city government.
Mayor Scott says it's too early to tell what kind of impact the collapse of the Key Bridge could have on the city's budget.
I’m proud to say that we balanced the budget without any service reductions or layoffs, continued investments in our critical priorities, and ensured that our city will be in a sound fiscal position as we navigate the challenges ahead.
