BALTIMORE, MD (WEAA) — Another Baltimore-area restaurant is closing its doors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The board of Ida B’s Table announced the closure in a Facebook post on Monday:

Respected Ida B’s Table Guests and Affiliates,

Many of you have been with us from day one. You have experienced the peaks and valleys in our pursuit of excellence. Unfortunately, we must take an unpopular decision regarding the future of Ida B’s Table. Effective today, Ida B’s Table has made the tough decision to close our doors. We want to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to our guests and neighbors in the community. It has been extremely humbling to see so many embrace the concept of Ida B’s Table. It has been an honor to serve each of you.

To our talented team, thank you for your hard work and dedication. Without you, Ida B’s Table would not be the great place it is. It has been a privilege to work alongside of each of you.

Thank you!

The modern soul food restaurant, located in downtown Baltimore on Holliday Street, was named in honor of Ida B. Wells, the pioneering journalist and anti-lynching activist.

It is unclear if the coronavirus pandemic is the reason for the shutdown.

The board could not immediately be reached for further comment.
