ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Maryland is moving into a new phase of eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Residents 60 years old and older are eligible as the state opens Phase 2A on Tuesday.

States are expecting to see a significant increase in vaccine supply.

On Monday, Acting Maryland Health Secretary Dennis Schrader said the state could get between 300,000 and 400,000 doses a week by next week or the week after.

State lawmakers raised concerns with the health secretary about older residents who have been eligible for the vaccine, but have yet to get it.

Schrader says Maryland is still focusing on vaccinating older residents, even as Phase 2 opens.
