(BALTIMORE, MD) Thomas V. Mike Miller, Senate President Emeritus, will lie in state in the rotunda of the Maryland State House on Thursday and Friday.
Miller died at age 78.
In 2019, he announced his battle with prostate cancer. He resigned from his Senate seat in December.
The Democrat was the state's longest-serving Senate president.

At 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, Maryland State Police Honor Guard will escort Senate President Emeritus Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. from Lee Funeral Home in Clinton to stops throughout his district including Senator Miller’s law offices (8808 Old Branch Ave in Clinton, and 2981 Penwick Lane in Dunkirk), the Prince George’s Fire Department in Clinton, MD (9025 Woodyard Rd), Surrattsville High School (6101 Garden Dr), Chesapeake Beach, and Herrington Harbor.
Family members will hold a private event at the State House with Governor Larry Hogan, Senate President Bill Ferguson, and Speaker Adrienne Jones.
On Friday, public visitation will begin at 8 a.m. with Governor Hogan, Lieutenant Governor Rutherford, President Ferguson, Speaker Jones, members of the Congressional Delegation, former governors and members of Congress.
At 11 a.m., visitation will be paused for a noon Senate ceremony. The Senate Session will be live-streamed on the General Assembly website.
Visitation will then resume at 3 p.m. with local elected officials, statehouse and legislative staff, and friends and other invited guests until 7 pm.
At 7 p.m., the State Police Honor Guard will conduct exit ceremonies followed by a police motorcade from the State House down Rowe Boulevard until Route 50.
On Saturday morning, Miller’s family will have a private mass and internment. The mass, will begin at 11 am. and will be live-streamed on St. John the Evangelist's Facebook page.
