Former Baltimore officer denied bail in child sex abuse case

Conversation with attorney A. Dwight Pettit

(Towson, MD) -- A former Baltimore City police officer accused of sexually molesting children at a daycare center has been denied bail.

James Weems is facing charges of sexually assaulting children as young as seven-years old at his wife's daycare center in Owings Mills.

Weems was arrested after allegedly being shot by his wife in a D.C. hotel room last month.

He was extradited back to Maryland to face the charges.

During his hearing, court testimony indicated that officials are interested in speaking with more than ninety clients of the daycare as they continue their investigation.

Weems is charged with sexually abusing three children, a 12-year-old girl, a 10-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy at the Kidz Kastle Child Development Center which was operated by his wife.
