COVID-19 is affecting how a lot of people are celebrating events and holidays this year.

However, I am here to share with you some creative, fun and safe ways that you and your family can celebrate and enjoy this holiday season.

Zoo Lights| Holiday light show at Maryland Zoo

(BALTIMORE, MD) If you are having trouble getting into the holiday spirit, the Maryland Zoo is the place to go.

Zoo Lights, a seven-week long, after-hours event, is open now through January 3, 2021.

Featuring more than 50 light displays, including ones shaped like your favorite animals, Zoo Lights is sure to bring you holiday cheer. 

Audition for a chance to perform or be in the talent show at the 2017 African American Festival. Online application and a sample of your act/talent must be submitted no later than Thursday, July 6, 2017. One submission per act is allowed.

WEAA Celebrates James "Big Jim" Staton

On Sunday at the Eubie Blake Cultural center, WEAA celebrated Big Jim, who turned 81 this year and has done more than 25 years of service for the WEAA community. Check out the photos and video from the ultimate old school party!

Gospel Grace's Ernestine Jones and Kelle' Avent represented well at the Festival of Praise Tour 2016, starring Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker, Karen Clark Sheard, Regina Belle, Casey J, Israel Houghton and comedian Earthquake. The pair greeted listeners during intermission and were welcomed with great enthusiasm!

The room hushed as over 500 women of all ages, mostly African American, held their breath and watched Taraji P. Henson emerge from the curtains onto the stage of Baird Auditorium at the National Museum of Natural History this weekend. Tickets to see RAH were one of the many premiums offered during the WEAA 88.9 Fall Membership Drive last week.

On Friday, September 16, WEAA teamed up with WURD Philadelphia for a live broadcast from the Congressional Black Caucus 46th Annual Legislative conference in Washington DC. Listen back as Sean Yoes, Catalina Byrd, and Solomon Jones bring you conversations with state legislators and leaders in Congress, including Senator Catherine Pugh, Representative Elijah Cummings, and Jeff Johnson.

On Friday, September 16, WEAA teamed up with WURD Philadelphia in a live broadcast from the Congressional Black Caucus 46th Annual Legislative conference in Washington DC. 

WEAA’s own Your Girl Cheryl and Robert Shahid, of the Baltimore Blend, will be emceeing tonight’s 31st Anniversary of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF) Annual Legislative Conference Jazz Concert.
