(WEAA)— Maryland health officials report 9,986 new coronavirus cases since Thursday morning.
Currently, 3,363 people are hospitalized due to complications from the virus.
Maryland’s positivity rate is now at 24.77%.
According to the state’s coronavirus dashboard, more than 12,000 people have died from the virus.
On Thursday, Governor Larry Hogan announced the Maryland will open six new hospital-based testing sites and will distribute 20 million free masks across the state.
Beginning next week, @MDHealthDept will distribute 20 million N95 and KN95 masks at no cost through multiple channels, including local health departments, state-run testing and vaccination sites, and nursing homes.
