Police say, the suspect refused to leave the business and ran to the back of the store where he started a fire that resulted in an explosion.
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings; however, officials say the blast damaged several adjacent businesses.
The officers and EMTs suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect remains hospitalized.
Police say charges are pending.
