(Sterling, VA) -- Parts of Western Maryland are now under a Winter Storm Warning until 7:00 this evening.
The National Weather Service says Allegany County could see heavy mixed precipitation, including five to seven inches of snow and up to one-tenth of an inch of ice.
A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Allegany County MD & Mineral, Hampshire, and Morgan County WV. Hazards include total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch. Plan on slippery road conditions. Winter weather advisories are posted for Washington and Garrett counties, with up to five inches of snow and a glazing of ice possible in those areas.
Rain is likely elsewhere across the state, where temperatures are above freezing.
