(Baltimore, MD) -- Attendance at this weekend's Preakness events, Friday and Saturday, marked an increase over last year but it still fell far short of the previous decade.
Owners of Pimlico Race Course say a combined 65,000 people turned out Friday and Saturday.
Before the pandemic, in 2019, attendance reached 182,000.
On the other hand, the amount of money wagered on Saturday, the day of the Preakness, totaled almost $102 million, well above the five-year average leading up to the pandemic of $94 million.
