Baltimore County Public Schools, teachers union reach contract agreement

(Towson, MD) -- Teachers in Baltimore County have a tentative contract.

The Teachers Association of Baltimore County announced the agreement is for the 2023-2024 school year.

Teachers will have to vote on the contract before it's ratified.

Officials with TABCO say the agreement with the school system comes after four years of negotiations.

“First off, beyond the nuts and bolts of how this agreement affects our wages and workloads, getting to this point is hugely important because it means that Baltimore County will be more competitive with neighboring counties. The open faucet of educators leaving for other districts finally will be closing — we will retain more teachers. That is a victory for students, parents, and all educators. We all have experienced the profound impact of teachers leaving our schools.” - Kelly Olds, chair of TABCO’s bargaining team.

The union says it will make Baltimore County more competitive with neighboring counties.
