(Baltimore, MD) -- Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott says he has no intention of changing his plan to formally nominate Richard Worley as police commissioner.
Scott appointed Worley as acting commissioner after Commissioner Michael Harrison announced he was stepping down.
Today, the Baltimore NAACP branch and other groups called on the mayor to restart the search and withdraw his selection of Worley for the job.
The groups also want a national search to fill the position and more community input in the selection process.
In a statement, the mayor said the goal has always been to promote someone from within the department.
He also insists the public will be able to weigh-in once the official confirmation process begins for Worley.
